The always loose-lipped Joe Biden said Wednesday that President Obama may issue “executive orders” to deal with gun control.
All day conservatives have been filling up comments sections and message boards with criticisms of Obama. The gist of the comments is that an executive order would be an abuse of executive authority.
Normally I would agree with that way of thinking, but there are special circumstances when it involves gun control. Not only is Congress incredibly partisan and unlikely to agree on anything, but the gun lobby is very influential and no one stands up against them. The only way for anything to get done is an executive order.
All the commotion could amount to nothing, since Biden said they were considering an executive order and nothing is pending. But if Obama does stand up to the gun lobby that’s pretty ballsy. After all, they have all the guns.
